TFI began operations
in November 1985 as a hazardous waste transporter (ADL 981 023 492) and transfer
facility headquartered in Vernon, Alabama. A part of the overall operation included
transporting and storing of then non-hazardous waste from the wood preserving
industry. This waste became hazardous waste effective June 06,1991 utilizing
the waste codes F032,F034, and F035. In May of 1991, TFI relocated the storage
portion of the Vernon operation to the present location at Mile Marker 250 on
Alabama Highway 17 North.
The facility currently occupies about four acres, on which the hazardous waste
storage, bulking and transfer operations are conducted. TFI received its RCRA
Part B operating permit in February of 1995.
Terra First is a RCRA Part B Permitted T.S.D. facility (E.P.A. ID# AL983177015).
We have a permitted storage capacity of 1,504 drums an additional 97-20cu.yrd.
roll of containers of solid material equivalent to 7,000 drums. We are permitted
to store this material for up to one year before we move it to disposal. Another
unique aspect of out permit is that it allows us to bulk like solid material
(from drums into roll offs).
We run L.T.L. trucks to every state in the union ( with the exception of New
Jersey ) every ninety days. This allows us to pick up one drum from a small
quantity generator, bring it back to our facility, hold it for up to one year,
then bulk it with other similar waste codes and dispose of it at a bulk rate.
We can offer dedicated storage capacity, cross dock loading-unloading, bulking and transportation services. We are located roughly halfway between California and New Jersey, and have no problem receiving waste from any E.P.A. approved transporter.
